Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic hit out at the European Union and the United States criticized them over their approach in finding a solution to the long-standing Belgrade-Pristina dispute.<\/p>\n

In an interview for the Atlantic Council, Vucic says that the two superpowers demand the recognition of Kosovo, but without offering anything in return.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe matter is that the United States, Germany, and other powerful Western states say they expect from Serbia to recognize Kosovo. But when we ask what are you offering, there is nothing. Nobody can guarantee anything, actually not even membership in the European Union\u201d, said Vucic.<\/p>\n

He also criticized the EU for not being supportive of the idea of a single economic area in the Balkans.<\/p>\n

Currently, the only WB states part of the common market are Serbia, Albania, and North Macedonia.<\/p>\n

According to him the so-called \u201cMini-Schengen\u201d is the future of the region and criticized the stance maintained by Kosovo, Montenegro, and Bosnia who refuse to join its neighbors, but admitted that he is partially to be blamed.<\/p>\n

Asked over a “non-paper”, an EU term for an unofficial set of talking points shared confidentially between governments or institutions, that has been making the roundabouts in the media and mentioning plans to change the borders in the region, Vucic said \u201cYou\u2019ve never heard from me or the Prime Minister of Serbia that we support a Greater Serbia, but you hear it daily from Pristina and Tirana and nobody reacts. The times of wars in the Balkans have passed and the people are fed up with wars. Even if someone wants to fight us, we will not do that. I guarantee you\u201d, said Vucic.<\/p>\n

In regards to relations with the United States, Vucic asserted that he\u2019s actively trying to build strong ties with the US and described President Joe Biden as\u201d the most politically prepared man I\u2019ve ever spoken to.\u201d<\/p>\n
