{"id":12529,"date":"2021-04-30T14:59:17","date_gmt":"2021-04-30T14:59:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/euronews.al\/en\/?p=12529"},"modified":"2021-04-30T14:59:17","modified_gmt":"2021-04-30T14:59:17","slug":"pandemic-restrained-crime-but-fueled-domestic-violence-and-drug-related-offenses","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/euronews.al\/en\/pandemic-restrained-crime-but-fueled-domestic-violence-and-drug-related-offenses\/","title":{"rendered":"Pandemic restrained crime but fueled domestic violence and drug-related offenses"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Although crime statistics were on a decline in 2020, it seems that on the other hand isolation due to the pandemic fueled drug use and domestic violence.<\/p>\n<p>According to the latest <a href=\"http:\/\/www.instat.gov.al\/media\/8271\/press-release-krime-2021_format.pdf\">report<\/a> released by the Institute of Statistics, crime rates dropped by 7% last year or translated in numbers, 32,700 fewer criminal offenses in comparison to figures from 2019.<\/p>\n<p>However, domestic violence reports and drug-related offenses have increased compared to figures from the year before.<\/p>\n<p>Drug use, as well as sale, grew by 5% from 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, there were 114 more attempted murders than in 2019, while 52 citizens fell victim to premeditated murders.<\/p>\n<p>Domestic violence reports grew by 12.2%.
