For the second time, Parliament has started an investigation into President Meta. This time around, the Inquiry Commission for the President\u2019s impeachment is headed by Alket Hyseni and the result of today\u2019s first meeting was the approval of the commission\u2019s plan of action.<\/p>\n

\u201cBeyond our own political beliefs, our only mission stands before the Constitution and the Law. We have said it before that the establishment of this Commission isn\u2019t the most pleasant thing in the world. I believe that events like these aren\u2019t particularly enjoyable for parliamentary life,\u201d stated Hyseni.<\/p>\n

It wasn\u2019t just the president\u2019s calls during the electoral campaign that the ruling party claims incited violence, but also his moves and meetings that are now required to undergo a thorough investigation.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe should officially ask law-enforcement agencies to provide us with information; the National Informative Services, the General Judiciary of the State Police and the Directory of Anti-terror in order to notify us about the confidential information that these law enforcement agencies have possessed during the entire 30 days of the campaign. Based on the confidential information I have, there are possible meetings with exponents of the crime world, meetings with individuals that could have incited violence, but nonetheless none of us is competent about any of this, as we need to have at our disposal, all the above-mentioned documents from the all law enforcement agencies of this country,\u201d said Myslim Murrizi.<\/p>\n

In order to not compromise the investigations and incite further conflict with the Head of State, Spartak Braho, former MP of the party founded by Ilir Meta before becoming president, asked his colleagues to spare their public accusations.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are a quasi-court or a quasi-prosecution; we are entrusted with investigating into this case, on the basis of which we will draw our conclusions, regarding whether or not there were serious violations by the President of the Republic, but until then, we shouldn\u2019t give any definitive declarations about the President before the fact,\u201d said Braho.<\/p>\n

The previous judgments of the Venice Commission and the Constitutional Court regarding President Meta, will be part of the case file and work plan of this Inquiry Commission. The Presidency, on the other hand, has made it very clear that it won\u2019t concede any of the “unlawful and anti-constitutional verdicts or activities of a one-party system and unilateral Parliament”.<\/p>\n
