The Greek Chief Diplomat, Nikos Dendias visited Prishtina again this Friday but didn\u2019t mention anything regarding a possible future recognition of Kosovo\u2019s statehood.<\/p>\n

However, he did give the affirmation of his country\u2019s support for the process of lifting the travel restrictions and visa requirements for the citizens of Kosovo as well as the dialogue with Serbia.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe believe that the Western Balkans should be part of the European Union, we are also supporters of the liberalization of visas because you have fulfilled all the criteria. We are also here to help you in the area of rule of law. \u00a0It is clear that we strongly support the continuation of the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, so that a legally obligative agreement can be reached by both sides. Despite our neutral stance and Kosovo\u2019s status, we have an office in Athens, which since 2019 continues to function and deal with economic matters and we hope that this office can serve in helping our relations even further,\u201d stated the Greek Minister of Foreign Affairs.<\/p>\n

These comments were made after his meeting with the Kosovar homolog, Donika Gervalla-Schwarz, who took the advantage during their meeting, to ask her Greek homolog about Kosovo\u2019s recognition.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe consider the recognition and respect for our country\u2019s independence by all member states of the European Union, including Greece, a fundamental contribution to the stability of the Balkans. Kosovo\u2019s independence is an unalterable fact and the sooner this fact is accepted the sooner a stable perspective can be achieved for the region. However, taking into consideration the fact that Greece still sees Kosovo\u2019s independence from another standpoint, we reaffirm that we will continue our intensive dialogue, regarding this matter with Greece and our other partners in the EU,\u201d stated MFA Gervalla.<\/p>\n

Despite the lack of recognition, Greece and Kosovo have agreed that the status of Kosovo\u2019s Office in Athens should advance from an economic office to a multidimensional office with an interest in several different fields.<\/p>\n

After meeting with his homolog Gervalla, the Greek Chief Diplomat, Nikos Dendias was also received by the President, Vjosa Osmani, Chairman of the Parliament of Kosovo, Glauk Konjufca and Prime Minister Albin Kurti.<\/p>\n
