The Government of Kosovo has promised the establishment of a platform and strategy regarding the dialogue with Serbia. However, it will only take place after the meeting that has been planned for mid-June, when the next chapter for this dialogue is also expected to be decided upon.<\/p>\n

The spokesperson for the Kurti administration, P\u00ebrparim Kryeziu stated for KosovaPress that the meeting in Brussels will only be held in order to determine the upcoming dialogue, which he emphasized, will follow a specific platform and concrete strategy.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen it comes to the meeting at the end of this month, this isn\u2019t a meeting of the dialogue, but a meeting about the future dialogue. And in regards to the future dialogue, we will certainly put together a platform and strategy, which we will sit to discuss about, when time is right. In addition, we will be discussing in Parliament about the past dialogue, when we will also conduct an analysis of the agreements that have been reached up until this point, as well as their implementation and the effects they have had on the lives of citizens,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Kryeziu also added that when an agreement is reached regarding the new dialogue, Kurt\u2019s administration will have provided all the necessary documents for this process.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is still too early, when we look at it as a process or a step, for the simple fact that whatever happens this mid-June is only a discussion regarding the future of the dialogue, and not the dialogue itself. Which is why, this meeting should be treated accordingly and in the future, when we have reached an agreement regarding the new chapter of this dialogue, we will also have all the necessary documents. But something should be kept in mind, some of these documents will be made public and put up for discussion, but others, because of the sensitivity they contain, cannot become part of the public discussion,\u201d argued Kryeziu.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, the MP of AAK, Time Kadrijaj insisted in the request that PM Kurti should bring the platform for the dialogue to Parliament, before he departs for Brussels and conducts his meeting with Serbian President Vucic.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe shouldn\u2019t go to Brussels without a platform, he should bring the platform to the Parliament of Kosovo as soon as possible, so it can be debated and he should consider the proposals of the opposition and the government\u2019s partners. We should draft a platform and the steps of the discussion should be set out clearly. What we are asking from Mr. Kurti is to not baffle us with some kind of agreement that could be baffling for Kosovo,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

KosovoPress tried to obtain a statement from the other two major parties in opposition, PDK and LDK, but they have refused to provide their official stance.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Violeta Haxholli from the Democratic Institute of Kosovo (KDI) has also joined the group of those asking the Kurti administration for a concrete platform regarding the dialogue with Serbia.<\/p>\n

\u201cKDI has made several calls to the government, to prepare a platform and strategy for this dialogue. It would be good to have a written document, where Kosovo\u2019s position in this process is clearly articulated; which should also include an analysis of the agreements reached up until now, as well as a study gathering information on the ground regarding how well these agreements have been implemented, so that the government of Kosovo can have all the necessary information before continuing on the next steps of the dialogue with Serbia,\u201d she argued.<\/p>\n

In mid-June, Kosovo\u2019s PM Albin Kurti is expected to meet with the Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, in Brussels.<\/p>\n

In order to assist with preparations for this meeting, during this week the EU Envoy for the dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak and the Deputy U.S. Secretary, Matthew Palmer have been present and conducting several meetings in Prishtina.<\/p>\n
