Invited on tonight\u2019s Ilva Now to discuss the future of the Democratic Party, analyst Aleksander Cipa says that he sees an \u201cunequal race\u201d amongst the candidates, adding that claims for an \u201celectoral massacre\u201d were mainly a coverup of what was really happening within the Democrats themselves.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think that the competition is unequal and the DP raised allegations of an “electoral massacre\u201d that took place at the parliamentary elections more as a coverup of what was really happening internally, rather than a seemingly political repositioning in front of its opponent\u201d, Cipa said.<\/p>\n
According to the analyst, Basha has several advantages due to the way that the DP is structured.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe incumbent leader is more privileged than the other candidates because he has at his disposition a more favorable structure than the other competitors\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n
The analyst explained that holding a race for the party\u2019s leadership was a rushed move as the results of the parliamentary polls had not been certified yet, maintaining that a priority should have been given to clarifying what went down during the elections instead.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen the electoral process was still open and the results had not been certified, and while the opposition should have maintained its role in preserving the integrity of the electoral process, I believe that the move to have an election for the party\u2019s leadership was premature\u201d, said Cipa.<\/p>\n
The fact that there are four candidates racing for the party\u2019s top post is seen as something positive by the analyst, however, he reiterated that the other candidates are disadvantaged in front of Basha.<\/p>\n
