In an interview for Euronews Albania, the mayor of Athens, Kostas Bakoyannis esteemed the relations between Albania-Greece by saying that both countries have the unique opportunity to increase their teamwork and collaboration. one another.<\/p>\n

Bakoyannis said to journalist Bruna \u00c7ifligu that Albania and Greece shouldn\u2019t be stuck in the past, but that they should instead, be seeing toward a common European future. He emphasized that in this aspect, Greece supports Albania\u2019s integration into the EU.<\/p>\n

The Mayor of Athens also stated that both countries have more things to learn from one another. In this prism, he pointed out culture and education, with the idea that collaboration in these fields in the future can be \u201cas broadened as possible\u201d.<\/p>\n

Bakoyannis also stated that the \u201cpolitical will for a cooperation between both countries is already in place\u201d.<\/p>\n

We can come together and exchange these between the two cities. It\u2019s not so difficult, it\u2019s a matter of will and decisiveness,\u201d \u2013 stated Bakoyannis.<\/p>\n

Through funding from its embassy in Tirana, Greece has started work on its investment in the lake of Farka, known as the \u201cHellenic Park\u201d, and Bakoyannis added that now that the borders are opening back up and the pandemic is getting better, investments will continue.<\/p>\n

Next year, Tirana is expected to be the \u201cCapital of Youth\u201d and Bakoyannis valued the changes that have been happening recently in the city, saying that it is now \u201cmore lively than ever\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was actually here, I think over 10 years ago. Today, it\u2019s a different city. I was struck by the dynamism, by the vibrant character of the city. Every year something changes and I was, to be perfectly transparent, very much impressed by the very good work of my friend the Mayor. I think it\u2019s a city that\u2019s transforming and that has reborn. There is a lot of optimism and a lot of justifiable optimism in Tirana,\u201d stated Bakoyannis, adding that Veliaj is expected to visit Athens during the fall.<\/p>\n

Kostas Bakoyannis, 43 years old, was elected mayor of Athens in June 2019. He is considered to be one of the young politicians, through whom Greece can see toward the future.<\/p>\n

Kostas is the nephew of the current PM of Greece, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, son of the former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Theodora Bakoyannis and liberal politician Pavlos Bakoyannis \u2013 who was murdered by the terrorist organized \u2018November 17th<\/sup>\u2019 in 1989. He started his political career in 2010, when he made his candidature as an independent official, for the post of mayor of Karpenisi and later he moved on to Mitsotakis\u2019 party \u201cNew Democracy\u201d.<\/p>\n
