{"id":16196,"date":"2021-06-23T15:16:54","date_gmt":"2021-06-23T13:16:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/euronews.al\/en\/?p=16196"},"modified":"2021-06-23T15:18:24","modified_gmt":"2021-06-23T13:18:24","slug":"constitutional-court-starts-proceedings-over-the-local-elections-legitimacy-on-june-2019","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/euronews.al\/en\/constitutional-court-starts-proceedings-over-the-local-elections-legitimacy-on-june-2019\/","title":{"rendered":"Constitutional Court overturns appeal of Municipality Association"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today the Constitutional Court will start the evaluation of the two lawsuits claiming the illegitimacy of the local elections held back in June 2019, when Erjon Veliaj was re-elected as mayor of Tirana.<\/p>\n<p>The Court\u2019s agenda for today will include both lawsuits filed by the Association of Municipalities of Albania, which has appealed the electoral process taking place on June 30<sup>th<\/sup> 2019, as well as the procedures for the registration of BD in these elections.<\/p>\n<p>However, the Constitutional Court decided to overturn the appeal request of the Association of Municipalities for Local Autonomy to become part of the process as an interested party.
