The recent troubling numbers in road accidents happening in our country, and tragic disputes between businessmen, brought together analysts, Redi Shehu and Plarent Ndreca, in Erla Mehilli\u2019s \u2018Raw Politics\u2019 on Euronews Albania.<\/p>\n

Former secretary-general at the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Plarent Ndreca, said that \u201cthese incidents are serious but they don\u2019t characterize the whole Task Force\u201d. According to him, \u201cThe State Police is currently at the best shape it has ever been, in terms of the management of law and order and security\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cEvents of this nature happen in many western countries that have a much better system of security and order. This entire panorama doesn\u2019t strip the Task Force from their responsibilities either,\u201d said Ndreca, while adding that the data shows that we have a decline of criminality.<\/p>\n

By contrast, analyst Redi Shehu stated that we should be drawing comparisons with other countries, not ourselves.<\/p>\n

\u201cComparisons shouldn\u2019t be done with ourselves. The best comparison is at least with the region; I am not talking about the developed world. In the region, Albania is ranked the lowest, in terms of criminality per 100 thousand people,\u201d said Shehu.<\/p>\n

According to him, reasons and causes are complex but they are closely related with politics and sociology. Shehu added that \u201cthe politics of the state defines sociologically how the people behave because politics defines the fates of the people\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cCrime can\u2019t be separated from these two elements. Both produce criminality if they aren\u2019t coordinated the way they should. We aren\u2019t a condemned nation. If the people aren\u2019t guaranteed protection and if you don\u2019t conduct a good administration of public life, then certainly it starts to degrade,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

The analyst also added that the State Police should build up its authority, because the last thing a criminal worries about in Albania, is how to deal with the police.<\/p>\n

Redi Shehu also spoke against the stance of the Internal Minister, who claimed that the ones responsible for the current criminality situation are the courts.<\/p>\n

The former secretary-general of the Ministry of Internal Affairs stated that \u201cThe state police has a greater authority than 30 years ago,\u201d and added that \u201cwe should give up on the culture of throwing jabs at the courts, especially after the systematic justice reform\u201d.<\/p>\n
