A total of 253 fatalities per 200 thousand inhabitants occur in Albania due to complications caused by tumors. According to the latest report published by INSTAT, in recent years, cancer has turned into one of the deadliest silent killers nationwide.<\/p>\n

According to the data of the Statistics Institute in 2020, tumors claimed the lives of 158.8 men per 100 thousand inhabitants, whereas, amongst women, fatality rates were 94.3 per 100 thousand inhabitants. In other words, tumors claim the lives of 11.1% of women and 14.5% of men.<\/p>\n

Put in context, the actual figures could be even more worrisome, when taking into consideration the fact that 331 deaths per 200 thousand inhabitants are written down under the category \u2018unknown cause of death because of unspecified symptoms or diseases\u2019.<\/p>\n

Despite this, the main cause of deaths amongst Albanians remains to be complications caused by poor blood circulation and disorders affecting the circulatory system.<\/p>\n

Data show that diseases of the circulatory system cause 552.5 deaths per 100 thousand citizens in men and 464.2 deaths per 100 thousand citizens in women.<\/p>\n

In age groups under 65, the number of deaths in men struck by these diseases is nearly twice as high as that of women, namely 116,3 for men compared to 48,3 for women. In patients over 65, the index for men is slightly higher.<\/p>\n

Around 61.9% of deaths in men suffering from blood circulation disorders occur between the ages 65-84 years old, compared to 59,3% in women.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, in patients over 85, these disorders take the lives of 20.1% of men compared to 31.9% in women.<\/p>\n

According to INSTAT, the Albanian population in January 1st<\/sup> 2021 was 2.8 million, suffering a decline of 0.6% compared to the previous year.<\/p>\n

In 2020, the average lifespan for men was 75.2 years old, whereas for women 79.6. This means that women life 4.4 years more than men.<\/p>\n

In 2020, the number of fatalities for men was 15.504, whereas for women 12.101, marking a rise compared to the previous year for both men and women.<\/p>\n
