Rizvanolli in turn, stated that there was never any transparency revolving the specifics and funding for this project.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a dead project, but unfortunately this is a project, for which as a nation we will continue to have to pay for. The case is currently on trial at the International Arbitration Court, and our State Attorney is defending Kosovo but there\u2019s a risk. I hope that this won\u2019t happen but there\u2019s a risk that we can end up losing millions, with an estimation reaching up to \u20ac20 million euros,\u201d said Rizvanolli.<\/p>\n<p>Back in 2017, the Government of Kosovo led by then PM Ramush Haradinaj, signed a deal with \u2018CountourGlobal\u2019 for the construction of this thermal power station with a 500 megawatts capacity that would cost \u20ac1.3 billion euros.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Kosova e Re\u2019 should have started work since last year and was planned to finish in three years. However, in December 2020, \u2018ContourGlobal\u2019 announced their withdrawal from this project with the reasoning that they had ceased to build coal projects, while also mentioning the changes that had occurred in Kosovo at the time.
