US ambassador, Yuri Kim gave a statement urging citizens to be more assertive on holding their elect candidates accountable while adding that public institutions have already started to act on their responsibilities.<\/p>\n

From Pustec, where she was attending the \u2018MIK Festival\u2019, ambassador Kim said that the reform is moving forward, even though it\u2019s doing so at a much slower pace, than expected.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have endless hope for Albania. I think the justice reform is moving forward\u2026slowly, more slowly than we would want, but it\u2019s definitely moving forward, and I think people should continue to be unsatisfied, people should demand more from their government, from the people that they elect. Now is the time to keep pushing. Don\u2019t give up!\u201d \u2013 said the US ambassador.<\/p>\n

The US diplomat asked citizens to not give up on believing in the justice reform and that it will change the country. When asked by Euronews Albania’s correspondent, whether the latest developments are actually taking us closer to
\n\u201ccatching the big fish\u201d, Kim replied by saying that she is not a prosecutor.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m a diplomat, that\u2019s it. I\u2019m not a prosecutor, I\u2019m not a fisherman, I\u2019m not a priest. I\u2019m just a diplomat,\u201d \u2013 said Kim, adding that according to her, institutions are showing that they can fulfill their responsibilities.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe institutions have their responsibilities. They know what those responsibilities are and I think that they are beginning to fulfill them. So let\u2019s support them, let\u2019s keep demanding and let\u2019s see where we go,\u201d \u2013 was ambassador Kim\u2019s appeal.<\/p>\n

In the end, the US ambassador said that what she really wanted to talk about was Albanian culture and nature, which according to her add to the hope that the country will move forward.<\/p>\n
