A resolution proposed by the opposition over the implementation of the Washington Agreement failed to receive the necessary votes in parliament.<\/p>\n

83 lawmakers were present during the plenary session, of which only 24 voted in favor on the back of a ruling Vetevendosje whose lawmakers abstained en-masse.<\/p>\n

The resolution was called by the Democratic League of Kosovo and urged the government to implement the deal signed with Serbia at the White House. According to the draft resolution, Albin Kurti\u2019s government should have introduced the assembly with his plan on how to enforce the agreement.<\/p>\n

Parliamentary resolutions are non-binding but mainly serve as a recommendation to the government.<\/p>\n

The Washington Agreement was brokered by then US President Donald Trump and was signed between former PM Avdullah Hoti and Serbian president Aleksandar Vucic.<\/p>\n

According to what was signed in Washington, both countries committed to revoking a campaign calling for the recognition, and vice-versa, of Kosovo.\u00a0 In addition, the US was granted priority to invest in a hydropower plant at Ujmani Lake.<\/p>\n

Also, both countries pledged they\u2019d start building a road and railway line connecting Prishtina with Belgrade.<\/p>\n

The United States has called on both countries to deliver on what was agreed upon.<\/p>\n
