Since the end of July, archaeological excavations inside the Mosaic of Tirana<\/strong> have been going on as part of a larger project involving the complete discovery of an antique villa. Until now, various findings like ceramic objects have been dug out, as well as entire spaces that could give us more hints into the time it was built in as well as the methods that were used.<\/p>\n

To date, the only portion available for public viewing was the \u2018Stone Carpet<\/strong>\u2019, which is part of the Rustic Villa.<\/em><\/p>\n

These new excavations are shining light onto the way of life and customs of a particularly prominent family at that time, which based on the evidence collected thus far, is thought to have lived during the 2nd<\/sup> \u2013 5th<\/sup> century AD.<\/p>\n

Visitors should definitely head to the Mosaic of Tirana<\/strong>, which is part of the Roman Villa<\/strong> complex, the construction of which covered several hectares of land and represents one of the largest villas to have every been found in our country.<\/p>\n

After the excavation project is complete, what is left to do is the conservation and restauration of all the findings, so that a complete picture of this antique construction can be put together and presented to curious locals and international visitors.<\/p>\n
