Lefter Koka has decided to renounce his lawmaker\u2019s mandate just on the brink of the new plenary session set to convene on September 10.<\/p>\n

Koka announced his decision in a Facebook status, adding that he has already submitted his request to the Central Election Commission (CEC).<\/p>\n

At the parliamentary elections held in April, Koka raced under the banner of the Socialist Party and won in the county of Durres.<\/p>\n

\u201cUnder a myriad of challenges that this journey puts on your way, it is always difficult to stop and assess when is the right time to put a cycle to its end. Today marks the day that my political path continues by the thousands of coworkers that made me a winner for many years, and that perhaps I never had the chance to thank them properly. Today, the future belongs to them\u201d, he wrote on Facebook however without mentioning any specific reasons for his decision.<\/p>\n

Other elected MPs that have waived their mandate are Mark Marku (DP), Najada \u00c7omo (SP), and Tom Doshi (SDP).<\/p>\n

Who\u2019s expected to take over his mandate in parliament?<\/strong><\/p>\n

His parliamentary mandate, according to the list of the Socialist Party, is expected to go to Ana Dhamo. The latter ranked ninth and will most likely take over one of the eight parliamentary seats that the Socialists swept in Durres.<\/p>\n

In total, the SP won 8 mandates in Durres. Prime Minister Edi Rama, ran for both Vlora and Durres, and although winning in both he declared that he is opting for Durres.<\/p>\n
