A few days ago, PM Rama announced the names of his new cabinet of ministers. Out of a total 15 ministers, 12 were women. However, according to analyst Andi Bushati, this is nothing new.<\/p>\n

During his appearance on Shock \u2013 a talk show on Euronews Albania focused on political commentary \u2013 Bushati stated that the Rama III cabinet includes women that lack character, going as far as saying that they simply \u201cserve as jewellery or d\u00e9cor\u201d and that according to him, the only reason they are in this new position of power is because Rama\u00a0 granted it to them.<\/p>\n

\u2018Rama is their Skanderbeg\u2019 \u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/h5>\n

\u201cIn this \u2018Renaissance\u2019 government of PM Rama, we have seen women that call their chief \u2018Skanderbeg\u2019; women that call him an artist of the highest European calibre,\u201d added Bushati.<\/p>\n

According to the analyst, the 12 ministers don\u2019t think for themselves, they lack individualism and have never before given any contributions to Albanian politics.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese women have been capitulated by the prime minister. They represent the kind of person that has so little self-respect that just like the men in that government, find out they have become minister after watching it be announced on TV,\u201d said Bushati.<\/p>\n

\u2018They will need to prove themselves\u2019<\/strong><\/h5>\n

In turn, analyst Baton Haxhiu retaliated by calling Bushati\u2019s remarks of Rama\u2019s new government \u201csexist\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cBushati called women, females<\/em>. In contrast to Bushati, I respect Albanian society much more because of its women than because of its men. They are conscientious and they are more devoted and more loyal to institutions,\u201d said Haxhiu.<\/p>\n

Bushati interjected by saying that Haxhiu\u2019s approach was even more sexist and divisive, to which Haxhiu replied by insisting that Bushati\u2019s previous remarks were characterized by a high dose of sexism and that the women in Rama\u2019s government will need to prove that they aren\u2019t there because of their gender.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
