We often see her on the news or various activities, but today we decided to present the Ambassador of Sweden through another dimension.<\/p>\n

Ambassador Elsa Hastad was waiting for us at her private residence in Tirana.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a feminist carpet. It was created by a very famous female artist. These are Swedish products by a special brand which uses only sustainable materials\u201d, explained the ambassador.<\/p>\n

She also introduced us to her husband, renowned poet, and writer Kristoffer Leandoer.<\/p>\n

\u201cI always read Albanian news in English, and of course I follow Euronews. I like Euronews because it’s balanced and it’s high-quality. That I like and I need, because many Albanian media are politicized\u201d, the ambassador said.<\/p>\n

In addition, the ambassador told us some of the things she liked the most, as well as the least, in Albania.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019re very special, very welcoming, and warm. And you are so helpful, you really try to do your best. The second thing I like the most are the beauties of the country\u201d, she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cSomething that I don\u2019t like is the negative narrative on Albania, something repeated among the people, who say that things are bad in Albania, nothing is working\u201d, she added.<\/p>\n

Another bad thing is the trash. When I travel across this beautiful country and see all the garbage, plastic bags are thrown around. That makes me sad\u201d.<\/p>\n

Diplomats will be diplomats, especially when the conversation takes a political turn. We spoke to the ambassador about her opinion on what is being broadly seen as foreign intervention into Albania\u2019s domestic matters.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur job is to support you in what you\u2019re doing and what you want to do. For Sweden, it is very clear, gender equality, democracy, and the environment\u201d, declared the ambassador.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think that you need to find the trust in your own politicians, towards your own country and your own people. I mean we cannot come and be a second group of politicians. That\u2019s wrong\u201d, she said.<\/p>\n
