During his visit to Kosovo today, Albania\u2019s PM, Edi Rama talked about the heightened tensions between Kosovo and Serbia, with some of the country\u2019s main party leaders, the majority of whom, he invited to come to Tirana on official visits.<\/p>\n

Rama met with the leader of the Democratic Alliance of Kosovo (LDK), Lumir Abdixhiku, the chair of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), Memli Krasniqi, leader of the New Alliance of Kosovo (AKR), Behgjet Pacolli, leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), Ramush Haradinaj and the leader of Social-democratic Initiative, Fatmir Limaj.<\/p>\n

The meetings were held behind closed doors and the press wasn\u2019t allowed to attend or ask questions. Journalists were only allowed in the beginning, so they could obtain the necessary footage.<\/p>\n

Abdixhiku thanked Rama in the name of LDK, for showing his support to Kosovo, through a status posted on his social media network.<\/p>\n

\u201cInter-Albanian relations are the foundation of our success,\u201d \u2013 wrote Abdixhiku.<\/p>\n

A similar approach was followed by PDK\u2019s Memli Krasniqi, who expressed his willingness to Rama, to cultivate friendly relations with all Albanian institutions.<\/p>\n

In comparison to the other leaders, Haradinaj told the press that he had also spoken to Rama about the project draft of a trans-Albanian railway linking both countries, which he said would be beneficial for both Kosovo and Albania.<\/p>\n

The chair of AAK also told the press that he welcomed the \u2018Open Balkan\u2019 initiative but only after a thorough recognition of Kosovo\u2019s independence by Serbia.<\/p>\n

Rama went to Kosovo today on an official visit, which was his first after beginning his third term as prime minister of Albania. During the day, he also conducted a meeting with PM, Albin Kurti, during which he agreed to organize an inter-governmental meeting between Kosovo and Albania in late November, while also setting up a joint secretariat that will deal with the countries\u2019 bilateral relations.<\/p>\n
