Democratic MP, Oerd Bylykbashi started the conversation during tonight\u2019s Barometer by saying that Sali Berisha\u2019s ousting from the party\u2019s parliamentary group has led to an aggressive backlash within DP.<\/p>\n

According to Bylykbashi, the current DP chair made a decision, which wasn\u2019t his to make, because as a leader, he has no competence to make the decision to oust someone from the parliamentary group.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe only competence accorded to DP\u2019s leader in the statute is to make sure that the decisions made by the party\u2019s central bodies, the Congress, the National Council and the Leadership are implemented. The statute doesn\u2019t foresee this kind of decision-making,\u201d \u2013 said Bylykbashi.<\/p>\n

In addition, the Democratic MP argued that Basha\u2019s action \u201ctore up the Democratic Party, something which could produce one of two things, which is it\u2019s either going to wake democrats up and bring about change, or tear the party apart even further\u201d<\/p>\n

According to Bylykbashi the approval rating for the former PM within DP\u2019s base could be much higher than the findings suggested by the poll conducted by Euronews Albania\u2019s \u2018Barometer\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u2018Basha\u2019s strategy against Berisha, the reason for his decline in popularity\u2019<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Political science researcher, Blerjana Bino commented on the most recent developments within the Democratic Party saying that the strategy chosen by Basha by staying in the background is the main reason for the decline in his approval rating, which has in turn, favored the former chair, Sali Berisha.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are currently before a national emergency \u2013 we\u2019re in need of a strong opposition. In the current setting, Basha\u2019s strategy is playing in Berisha\u2019s favor. Both are very weak however, and if these are the only alternatives presented by the opposition, in the next 4 years, the support for both politicians will be very low,\u201d \u2013 said Bino.<\/p>\n

\u2018They\u2019re both complicit, DP is 8 years too late for this debate\u2019 <\/strong><\/h5>\n

Editor in-chief of \u2018Gazeta Shqiptare\u2019, Erl Murati said on Euronews Albania\u2019s \u2018Barometer\u2019 that Democrats are just as unhappy with the current leader of DP, Lulzim Basha, as they are with former PM, Sali Berisha.<\/p>\n

According to Murati, now is not the most suitable time to have this debate amongst the two leaders of the same party, because it should have happened 8 years ago.<\/p>\n

Drawing a parallel, Murati brought up the example of the Socialist Party in 2005, when it would have been normal, according to him to ask about which leader was more popular amongst the Socialists, Fatos Nano or Edi Rama, who had just taken the leadership of SP. To ask this question would have been normal back then, as it would have been, when Lulzim Basha had just become DP\u2019s chair, but not 8 years after, argued Murati.<\/p>\n

\u2018Basha\u2019s plan to \u201ckill\u201d Berisha failed, he \u201ckilled\u201d himself in the process\u2019<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Director of the surveying agency MRB, Dimitric Mavros stated that the results of the poll comparing the popularity of Lulzim Basha and Berisha are quite clear.<\/p>\n

According to Mavros, based on the responses given by citizens, it\u2019s easy to understand that Basha\u2019s plan to \u201ckill\u201d Berisha has failed.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think this could be a suicidal move. If we look inside DP, we understand that there\u2019s a +8 rise for Berisha and -8 for Basha. I think Basha\u2019s plan to amplify his leadership by killing his political father or his mentor has failed,\u201d \u2013 said Mavros.<\/p>\n

The director of MRB expressed his certainty that based on the \u2018preferences\u2019 of DP voters, it\u2019s quite clear that Basha has no future in the Democratic Party.<\/p>\n

\u201cI believe we\u2019re talking about something that is detrimental in my opinion, only if Americans have something else in mind and have other plans for the country and for Basha as a personality,\u201d \u2013 argued Mavros.<\/p>\n
