The Government announced earlier today that for the next 6 months, the country is entering an official state of emergency in terms of our supply of electricity.<\/p>\n

According to the new government-issued regulation, the energy operators will have to suspend all investments, in order to guarantee that no one runs out of power. In the meantime, the government will have to secure the necessary funding that will help us overcome the current state of things.<\/p>\n

The official statement notes that Albania will be at a state of emergency, through to April 15, 2022. Today\u2019s decision marked the government\u2019s first step into drafting possible scenarios that will help our country face the present energy crisis, forewarned by PM Rama on October 3.<\/p>\n

According to the new directives, KESH, OST and OSHEE should suspend all plans of investment in order to guarantee that there are no power outages.<\/p>\n

This is the third time within a 3-year-period that our country goes into a state of emergency, after the 2019 earthquake and the pandemic, a year later.<\/p>\n

A \u2018state of emergency’ is usually declared by the highest government authority, who in our country is the prime minister, in cases when there\u2019s a situation that poses danger and\/or affects a large group of people while presenting high costs to the state budget.<\/p>\n
