Meanwhile, OSHEE and OST, the companies responsible for the transmission and distribution of electric power in Albania, announced tenders on software maintenance, whose costs exceed \u20ac1.2 million.<\/p>\n<p>But according to the government\u2019s decision, these companies must suspend unnecessary expenditures in order to guarantee an uninterrupted energy supply.<\/p>\n<p>On October 3, PM Edi Rama declared that Albania will be affected by the energy crisis set to last for several months, and <a href=\"https:\/\/euronews.al\/en\/albania\/2021\/10\/08\/energy-crisis-albania-enters-official-state-of-emergency-until-april-2022\/\">proclaimed a state of emergency<\/a> and the government\u2019s plan to overcome the crisis.<\/p>\n<p>The decision compels the companies responsible for the production and supply of electricity to cut down expenditures in order to buy the energy at unusually high prices. But four days after the prime minister raised the alarm, KESH spent \u20ac1 million to buy equipment for the Komani hydropower plants. On the same day, OST launched a race for the maintenance of the equipment in use, putting at the disposal around \u20ac800,000.<\/p>\n<p>The government accorded \u20ac200 million from the sovereign fund for these operators as the state of emergency <a href=\"https:\/\/euronews.al\/en\/albania\/2021\/10\/09\/pm-edi-rama-energy-price-will-not-increase-for-families-and-small-enterprises\/\">obliges<\/a> it to protect Albanian families from the crisis.
