In their 9th<\/sup> year in power, the Rama administration continues to use 2013, as a point of reference, when boasting about their achievements. Similarly, this is how Taulant Balla dodges a question about the state budget:<\/p>\n

\u201cNumbers are stubborn. The 2022 State Budget is double the size of the one in 2013,\u201d \u2013 said the head of SP\u2019s parliamentary group.<\/p>\n

The revenue from the 2013 budget, when the Berisha administration gave way to their successors, was \u20ac2.9 billion euros and it\u2019s been gradually going up each year.<\/p>\n

However, as soon as they won their third mandate, the Rama-led government declared the need to take a foreign loan, asking for a Eurobond valued at \u20ac700 million euros.<\/p>\n

This need came at a time when the public debt has reached a level of a staggering 80% of the national GDP or \u20ac11.6 billion euros.<\/p>\n

Comparatively, in 2013, the public debt was \u20ac7.2 billion euros.<\/p>\n

In other words, an Albanian citizen today has to carry a much heavier burden compared to 2013. An average family of four has \u20ac16,464 euros in debt weighing down on their shoulders, compared to \u20ac9,976 euros, nine years ago.<\/p>\n

The deficit has also crossed all thinkable bounds, becoming twice as high as in 2013.<\/p>\n

The difference between revenue and spending today is 5.4% of our Gross Domestic Product (GDP).<\/p>\n
