\u201cAfter each award, I can\u2019t help but feel the same emotions as I did the first time around,\u201d \u2013 this is how writer, Virgjil Muci described the decision of the 2021 Book Fair jury to present him with the Best Author of the Year Award, for his novel \u2018My tongue is to blame or Fajin ma ka Gjuha<\/em>\u2019.<\/p>\n

Muci told Euronews Albania that his relationship with folkloric prose is an old love story \u2013 a relationship, which has been getting richer over the years, inspiring him to be all the more productive.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy ambition is to move on from short proses to something bigger, like a saga or a novel,\u201d \u2013 said the renowned writer, while commenting on his three books, \u2018Albanian fairytales 100+1 nights\/ P\u00ebrralla Shqiptare 100+1 net\u00eb<\/em>\u2019, \u2018Eroticon and Satyricon\/ Erotikon e Satirikon\u2019<\/em> and \u2018My tongue is to blame, Fajin ma ka gjuha\u2019. <\/em><\/p>\n

The writer gave special thanks to the National Reading Center, which dedicated an entire event to one of his stories during the month of October, as well as professor Adrian Kapo \u2013 who is the man behind the illustrations of these three books.<\/p>\n

Muci went on to describe his methodology when writing fairytales for the Albanian public, saying that one of his major inspirations has definitely been the Italian writer, Italo Calvino.<\/p>\n

\u201cFiguratively speaking, I would say that Calvino has taken me by the hand and led me through this magical world,\u201d \u2013 said Muci, adding that he feels much gratitude for the great Italian writer.<\/p>\n

According to Muci, the narration of tales through the years has been a craft of sophisticated minds and extraordinary talent, which transcends the very definitions that are often attributed to them as an act of anachronism.<\/p>\n
