{"id":27336,"date":"2021-12-14T14:30:29","date_gmt":"2021-12-14T13:30:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/euronews.al\/en\/?p=27336"},"modified":"2021-12-14T14:30:29","modified_gmt":"2021-12-14T13:30:29","slug":"bill-on-party-financing-kurti-governance-shouldnt-be-a-corporate-product","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/euronews.al\/en\/bill-on-party-financing-kurti-governance-shouldnt-be-a-corporate-product\/","title":{"rendered":"Bill on party financing, Kurti: Governance shouldn\u2019t be a corporate product"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Prime Minister of Kosovo Albin Kurti believes it\u2019s necessary to pass a bill that would provide full transparency on the sources where political parties get their funds from.<\/p>\n<p>He emphasized that election results and governance shouldn\u2019t be corporate products.<\/p>\n<p>Although opposition parties were not enthusiastic about the bill, Kurti sought to reach a consensus to push forward the bill.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen a corporate is giving millions to a politician, it doesn\u2019t do that simply because it sympathizes a politician, but is looking to win ten times of the investment when that politician comes to power through tenders and state licenses\u201d, explained Kurti adding that he hopes to find a broad understanding over something that would be in the public\u2019s good.<\/p>\n<p>The head of the EU delegation to Kosovo, Tomas Szunyog expressed his support for Kurti\u2019s initiative and sought a swift reform in party finances.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPolitical party fundings are of particular importance for the proper functioning of a democracy and the rule of law.
