Traffic congestion is an ongoing issue that city dwellers have to struggle with on a daily basis in Tirana.<\/p>\n

Therefore, the positive effects of the temporary road ban on all heavy-duty and concrete mixer trucks during the daytime, are being widely felt amongst citizens.<\/p>\n

\u2018It was the right decision. In fact, in my opinion, it was well overdue,\u201d \u2013 said a citizen, adding that he has already noticed a relief of the city’s traffic congestion.<\/p>\n

\u2018It\u2019s definitely helped. We\u2019re already seeing results,\u201d \u2013 said another citizen, who works as a taxi driver.<\/p>\n

Apart from the alleviation of traffic, experts say that this daytime ban will lead to a cleaner environment.<\/p>\n

At the beginning of January, the City of Tirana decided to ban the circulation of all heavy-duty vehicles from the entire area that is encompassed by the Small Ring, from 07:00 am to 08:00 pm.<\/p>\n

This decision wasn’t received well by the builders themselves who have complained about the fact that they need to work during the day.<\/p>\n

Heavy tonnage trucks have been one of the main contributors to the capital\u2019s chronic traffic problem. At the same time, they contribute to noise pollution that is amplified by dozens of open construction sites working simultaneously across the entire city.<\/p>\n
