{"id":31097,"date":"2022-02-07T19:30:49","date_gmt":"2022-02-07T18:30:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/euronews.al\/en\/?p=31097"},"modified":"2022-02-07T19:54:53","modified_gmt":"2022-02-07T18:54:53","slug":"tahiri-was-a-scapegoat-used-by-rama-to-impress-the-eu-says-lawyer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/euronews.al\/en\/tahiri-was-a-scapegoat-used-by-rama-to-impress-the-eu-says-lawyer\/","title":{"rendered":"Tahiri was a scapegoat used to impress the EU, says lawyer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Saimir Tahiri was nothing but a scapegoat used by Rama to impress the EU and make Albania look worthy of integration, said lawyer Maks Haxhia.<\/p>\n<p>During his interview on Euronews Albania\u2019s SOT, Haxhia commented on former minister of interior Saimir Tahiri\u2019s recent sentencing by the Special Appeals Court, sending him to prison for 3.4 years on charges of abuse of power.<\/p>\n<p>According to Haxhia, this arrest paves the way for more existing and former officials to meet the same fate.<\/p>\n<p>PM Rama, said Haxhia, is trying to make Albania look like it\u2019s fulfilling its conditions and like it\u2019s actually making an effort to implement the justice reform.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThose trumpeting the reform nowadays are looking for another scapegoat. The first reason is to show Europe that we sent our internal affairs minister to prison and that there will be others. This way, we look like we\u2019re fulfilling EU\u2019s conditions.
