{"id":31169,"date":"2022-02-09T15:16:10","date_gmt":"2022-02-09T14:16:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/euronews.al\/en\/?p=31169"},"modified":"2022-02-09T16:19:57","modified_gmt":"2022-02-09T15:19:57","slug":"albanians-pay-the-highest-energy-prices-in-the-entire-region","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/euronews.al\/en\/albanians-pay-the-highest-energy-prices-in-the-entire-region\/","title":{"rendered":"Albanians pay the highest energy prices in the entire region"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When compared to other countries in the entire Balkan region, Albanians have to pay the highest price for their electricity.<\/p>\n<p>Even though we produce around 70% of our energy locally, through our hydropower plants (HEC), the tariffs continue to be high while prices have remained unchanged since 2014.<\/p>\n<p>Kosovo was the first country in the region, which decided to raise the price of electricity due to the global energy crisis.<\/p>\n<p>Faced with the rising cost of imports, the Kurti administration decided to jack up consumer prices by 20%.<\/p>\n<p>Both Albania and North Macedonia have declared a state of national emergency in regards to this sector, whereas PM Rama has left the discussion open when it comes to the revision of energy prices for big businesses only.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, North Macedonia and the Kovacevski administration have yet to discuss their plans when it comes to the new tariffs.<\/p>\n<p>Each country applies its own specific methodologies when it comes to settling on its energy tariffs.
