{"id":31590,"date":"2022-02-16T13:37:14","date_gmt":"2022-02-16T12:37:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/euronews.al\/en\/?p=31590"},"modified":"2022-02-16T13:37:46","modified_gmt":"2022-02-16T12:37:46","slug":"gjkko-closes-ex-attorney-generals-case-following-spaks-request","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/euronews.al\/en\/gjkko-closes-ex-attorney-generals-case-following-spaks-request\/","title":{"rendered":"Court closes ex-attorney general\u2019s case following SPAK\u2019s request"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Special Appeals Court (<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gjykata.gov.al\/gjykata-e-posacme-e-apelit-per-korrupsionin-dhe-krimin-e-organizuar\/gjykata-e-posacme-e-apelit-per-korrupsionin-dhe-krimin-e-organizuar\/\">GJKKO<\/a><\/strong>) accepted SPAK\u2019s request to call off all investigations on ex-attorney general\u2019s Adriatik Llalla\u2019s case.<\/p>\n<p>The former attorney general has been under investigation on charges of hiding personal wealth, but seeing that he has been tried and convicted once on these charges, SPAK asked GJKKO to call off all investigations against him.<\/p>\n<p>A few months ago, the Special Appeals Court sentenced Llalla to 2 years in prison on three separate charges, one of which was hiding personal wealth. In addition, 11 thousand square meters of land and an apartment registered in his name were confiscated by authorities.<\/p>\n<p>Llalla is the first high-ranking official in the justice system to be given a prison sentence. In 2018, Llalla was also included in the non grata list of the US Department of State.
