President Ilir Meta decreed on Wednesday the appointment of Arbena Ahmeti, the new judge to join the High Court.<\/p>\n

The move means that the High Court<\/a> will now have ten judges, out of a total of 19 required.<\/p>\n

This will also pave the way to complete the vacancies at the Constitutional Court<\/a>. The latter had reached a deadlock due to the missing quorum at the High Court.<\/p>\n

At the time being, the Constitutional Court has 7 judges: Vitore Tusha, Elsa Toska, \u00a0Marsida Xhaferllari, Fiona Papajorgji, Sonila Bejtja, Altin Binaj, and Perparim Kalo.<\/p>\n

However, the mandate of Binaj and Kalo expires soon, leaving the court once again with 5 judges.<\/p>\n

The Court\u2019s rulings, which require 9 judges, are made with 5 votes, otherwise, they would have no constitutional legality.<\/p>\n

President Meta\u2019s move was commended by US Ambassador Yuri Kim.<\/p>\n
