PM Edi Rama is holding a press conference where he will talk about his stance on the current war in Ukraine.<\/p>\n

Initially, Rama said that compared to many other NATO member countries, the effects of the crisis in our country will be minimal.<\/p>\n

The head of state referred to the economic ties between Russia and Ukraine.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe don\u2019t expect to see any concerning effects,\u201d \u2013 said Rama.<\/p>\n

Indirectly, however, Albania will be affected by the interruptions in trade relations between countries of the EU and Russia, said Rama.<\/p>\n

Albania imports around 65% of our wheat from Russia. On the other hand, we are also dependent on large numbers of Ukrainian tourists that chose to come to our country during the summer season.<\/p>\n

In regards to issues of safety, Rama said that Albania is a member of NATO which means that we are protected due to the very \u2018constitution\u2019 of this military alliance.<\/p>\n

Rama also maintained that based on a poll that has been conducted by his administration, a considerable number of Albanians fear that the war would include our country as well.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou don\u2019t need to worry. Only if World War III were to erupt \u2013 then you would have something to worry about and that is something we cannot predict, nor can we avoid it, if other countries choose to start it,\u201d \u2013 said Rama.<\/p>\n
