The only power citizens have is their voice, and when they make their voices heard is when things actually start to change.<\/p>\n

This is what activist Edlira Cepani told Euronews Albania this morning, during an interview about the current crisis that\u2019s led to massive price hikes across all sectors.<\/p>\n

\u201cEvery time citizens raise their voices, they are able to exert some sort of pressure \u2013 be it onto markets, or government leaders,\u201d \u2013 said Cepani.<\/p>\n

In regards to yesterday\u2019s protest, the activist said that it was as hurtful as it was inspiring to see citizens take to the streets and protest.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are still people in Albania who buy their groceries on a tab; how could they possibly afford these price hikes?\u201d \u2013 added Cepani.<\/p>\n

In addition, she said that the crisis in Albania is being abused, as there\u2019s clear evidence of price gouging, while oligarchs continue to exert complete control on markets, especially in the oil industry.<\/p>\n

Cepani announced that activists have been discussing and they will be asking the hydrocarbons association to lower taxes. If the government lowers taxes, she said, the price of oil will automatically go down.<\/p>\n

Yesterday, citizens gathered to protest<\/a> <\/strong>the rise of prices for oil and other products and they\u2019ve announced that protests will continue today before the PM\u2019s Office at 17:00 CET.<\/p>\n
