{"id":33191,"date":"2022-03-21T13:15:21","date_gmt":"2022-03-21T12:15:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/euronews.al\/en\/?p=33191"},"modified":"2022-03-21T13:17:35","modified_gmt":"2022-03-21T12:17:35","slug":"government-plans-belt-tightening-after-buying-energy-at-e250-euros-megawatt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/euronews.al\/en\/government-plans-belt-tightening-after-buying-energy-at-e250-euros-megawatt\/","title":{"rendered":"Government plans belt-tightening after buying energy for \u20ac250 euros\/megawatt"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Since October, Albania has been facing a national emergency as it pertains to its energy supply.<\/p>\n<p>Draughts, high import prices, and issues resulting from the war in Ukraine are contributing to further deepening the crisis.<\/p>\n<p>In the period from January to February, Albania imported energy at an average price of \u20ac186 euros per megawatt, whereas starting from March, we\u2019ve been buying it for \u20ac249 euros\/megawatt.<\/p>\n<p>The government has been asking citizens to start saving up on energy as much as they can, without becoming a burden for households or the small business sector.<\/p>\n<p>The Fierza HEC doesn\u2019t have enough water due to a lack of rainfall this year and it isn\u2019t producing enough energy as a result.
