According to Kosovo\u2019s PM Albin Kurti, the Western Balkans is in danger of a new conflict due to what\u2019s currently happening with the war in Ukraine.<\/p>\n

According to him, Serbian president Alexandar Vucic is a \u2018Kremlin\u2019s puppet\u2019 and he rules in a country that is a \u2018Russian replica\u2019.<\/p>\n

In an interview for La Repubblica, Albin Kurti said that he has noticed several efforts being made to destabilize the Balkans because according to him, Putin\u2019s influence over the Western Balkans continues to be very prominent.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Soviet Union has transformed into an octopus \u2013 with the Russian Federation at its center, and its tentacles spreading over Donbas, Crimea, Transnistria, Southern Ossetia\u2026former Yugoslavia is to an octopus \u2013 with Serbia in the center, followed by the Serbian entity in Bosnia, a Serbian entity in Montenegro that doesn\u2019t recognize the independence of its own nation, along with the illegal structures in northern Kosovo,\u201d \u2013 said Kurti.<\/p>\n

In addition, Kurti commented on Serbia\u2019s stance in relation to Russia, by saying that \u201cSerbia wants European money and Russian weapons at the same time\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2026in addition to Russian gas, which it buys at an affordable price. He is Kremlin\u2019s puppet. Last year, 350 soldiers from Kosovo participated in NATO\u2019s largest military exercise, \u2018Defender Europe 2021\u2019. Instead, Serbia participated in the \u2018Slavic Shield\u2019 along with Russia and Belorussia,\u201d \u2013 said Kurti.<\/p>\n

Kosovo\u2019s PM reemphasized that he will continue to intensify his efforts to become a NATO member, adding that these processes are detrimental to the security of the entire Balkan region.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese are three NATO nations: Albania, North Macedonia, and Montenegro. Then, there\u2019s my Kosovo, which isn\u2019t part of NATO, but NATO is an integral part of it (with the peacekeeping mission KFOR). We need to take a further step towards NATO\u2019s Program for Peace, as this is detrimental for the security of the entire Balkan region,\u201d \u2013 said Kurti.<\/p>\n
