{"id":33951,"date":"2022-04-05T19:15:58","date_gmt":"2022-04-05T17:15:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/euronews.al\/en\/?p=33951"},"modified":"2022-04-05T19:18:52","modified_gmt":"2022-04-05T17:18:52","slug":"canada-ratifies-bilateral-social-security-agreement-with-albania","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/euronews.al\/en\/canada-ratifies-bilateral-social-security-agreement-with-albania\/","title":{"rendered":"Canada ratifies bilateral Social Security Agreement with Albania"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Canadian Parliament ratified on Tuesday a bilateral Social Security Agreement, which allows citizens from both countries to receive their pension regardless of where they live.<\/p>\n<p>Prime Minister Edi Rama <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/ediramaal\/posts\/522022402626759\">noted<\/a> <\/strong>that the law will enter into force on August 1.<\/p>\n<p>Thousands of Albanians are expected to benefit from the agreement, as also a number of Canadians who live and work in Albania.<\/p>\n<p>Based on the agreement, citizens no longer risk losing their years of contributions at work, regardless of whether they have worked in Canada or Albania.<\/p>\n<p>For example, Albanian citizens will have the opportunity to get a retirement pension plan from Canada but chose to live in Albania.<\/p>\n<p>The agreement came after a long period of negotiations, a process that saw its first days back in 2013.<\/p>\n<p>The Albanian Parliament ratified the agreement in September 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Albania does not have a similar agreement with its neighbor Greece, or Italy, although thousands of hundreds of Albanian nationals live there.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Canadian Parliament ratified on Tuesday a bilateral Social Security Agreement, which allows citizens from both countries to receive their pension regardless of where they live.
