Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic opposed the decision of the High Representative for\u00a0Bosnia\u00a0and Herzegovina, Christian\u00a0Schmidt, in suspending the Law on Immovable Property in Bosnia\u2019s Serb-majority region Republika Srpska.<\/p>\n
Vucic\u2019s stance came after a meeting with Schmidt in Belgrade on Thursday.<\/p>\n
On the other side, Vucic and Schmidt were on the same terms when it comes to preserving peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as a decisive component for the economic development of the entire region.<\/p>\n
On Tuesday, Schmidt suspended a presidential decree issued by the President of Republica Srpska, Zeljka Cvijanovic, on a law that allowed the utilization of real estate by public authorities.<\/p>\n
Schmidt held that the decision will remain in force until the verdict of the Constitutional Court.<\/p>\n
Schmidt used the Bonn Power for the first time on April 12. Using the special powers assigned by the General Framework Agreement for Peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the High Representative can introduce and amend laws, or discharge elected or appointed political leaders.<\/p>\n
Whoever does not respect the decisions of the High Representative may be prosecuted as it is considered an offense.<\/p>\n
The Russian Embassy in Sarajevo also reacted on Wednesday, warning that the stance of the West might destabilize Bosnia and Herzegovina.<\/p>\n
