{"id":34899,"date":"2022-04-22T21:39:48","date_gmt":"2022-04-22T19:39:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/euronews.al\/en\/?p=34899"},"modified":"2022-04-22T21:39:48","modified_gmt":"2022-04-22T19:39:48","slug":"obesity-in-children-has-reached-16-according-to-the-ministry-of-health","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/euronews.al\/en\/obesity-in-children-has-reached-16-according-to-the-ministry-of-health\/","title":{"rendered":"Obesity in children has reached 16%, according to the ministry of health"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Recently, obesity amongst children has become an issue for many parents in Albania.<\/p>\n<p>Nutritionist Diola Dosti said that she is seeing more and more children in her clientele.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m seeing at least 10 children each month,\u201d \u2013 she said.<\/p>\n<p>Statistics published by the Ministry of Health show that 16% of children up to 5 years old are overweight.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe parameters of a 12-year-old child\u2019s liver \u2013 if he\u2019s obese \u2013 are like those of a 50-year-old alcoholic,\u201d \u2013 she said.<\/p>\n<p>Along with health issues, obesity is often accompanied by social problems like bullying.<\/p>\n<p>According to the ministry of health, it\u2019s usually boys ages 7 to 10 years old, who have a higher tendency of being overweight or obese.<\/p>\n<p>In order to fight this growing statistic, the education ministry has decided to impose longer gym classes, while stopping the sale of unhealthy foods in school cafeterias.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Recently, obesity amongst children has become an issue for many parents in Albania.
