Albanian journalist Blendi Fevziu shared on Monday with Euronews Albania moments from his meeting with the former President of Kosovo, Hashim Tha\u00e7i, at the pre-trial detention prison at The Hague.<\/p>\n
Fevziu said that although Tha\u00e7i was trying to hold it all up together, he was in an obvious state of distress.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou\u2019re mainly there to keep up a political balance, rather than being punished for something you have never committed\u201d, said Fevziu, while arguing that Thaci\u2019s calmness was more of a fa\u00e7ade over the unjust indictment he\u2019s obliged to face.<\/p>\n
He emphasized that the worst part is being judged by a court that cannot pay for compensation, in case he\u2019s found not guilty.<\/p>\n
Thaci was completely up to date with the latest developments in Kosovo, Fevziu said.<\/p>\n
The former president does not regret the fact that he was once one of the biggest proponents of the Specialist Chambers, despite finding himself in this situation today.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn my judgment he made a mistake, an irrevocable mistake, for several reasons. I\u2019m not against the creation of the Court, because every crime needs to be punished. But you cannot set up a court that is not accountable to any other authority\u201d, Fevziu said.<\/p>\n
‘Kosovo-Serbia agreement; impossible at the time’<\/strong><\/p>\n Fevziu said he was pessimistic when asked about a potential Kosovo-Serbia agreement in light of the current circumstances<\/p>\n According to him, the agreement calls for leaders who are indifferent to repercussions from their voters, and that talks over past historical truths make the path to finding a mutual language even more challenging.<\/p>\n \u201cThere\u2019s a thesis that without resolving disputes from the past you cannot solve future problems.
