{"id":36399,"date":"2022-05-16T15:10:09","date_gmt":"2022-05-16T13:10:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/euronews.al\/en\/?p=36399"},"modified":"2022-05-16T15:10:09","modified_gmt":"2022-05-16T13:10:09","slug":"entry-to-us-territory-is-banned-for-several-afghan-refugees-in-kosovo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/euronews.al\/en\/entry-to-us-territory-is-banned-for-several-afghan-refugees-in-kosovo\/","title":{"rendered":"Entry to US territory is banned for several Afghan refugees in Kosovo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The United States has banned the entry of 16 Afghan refugees that are currently living in a military base in Kosovo.<\/p>\n<p>The news was confirmed by US news agency \u2018Axios\u2019 which cites 2 American officials.<\/p>\n<p>This is the first time that the Biden administration refuses Afghans that have been temporarily sheltered outside of the United States.<\/p>\n<p>These refugees are going through a vetting process before they can ultimately enter the United States.<\/p>\n<p>This inspection is being carried out for security reasons so that these individuals can be correctly identified and so that it can be proved that they didn\u2019t have any connections to the Taliban or any other terrorist organization.<\/p>\n<p>The US Department of State is assessing 2 possibilities for the Afghan refugees who will be denied entry to the United States.<\/p>\n<p>One way will be cooperating with the Taliban so they can be returned to Afghanistan and the other will be sheltering them in other countries.<\/p>\n<p>More than 100 thousand Afghan refugees fled the Taliban regime last year, including those who worked for the US government and fought the Taliban.<\/p>\n<p>Around 76 000 were allowed to go to the US directly, whereas suspicious cases are still being processed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The United States has banned the entry of 16 Afghan refugees that are currently living in a military base in Kosovo.
