The Austrian Development Agency<\/a><\/strong> and the United Nations Population Fund in Albania<\/a><\/strong> (UNFPA) conducted the national study \u201cImplementation of Gender Equality and Friendly policies for families in public and private sectors\u201d.<\/p>\n

The Austrian Ambassador to Tirana Christian Steiner told \u2018Good Morning\u2019 on Euronews Albania that the goal of these projects is to support Albania in its European path.<\/p>\n

\u201cAustria and Albania have had close ties historically and currently. We\u2019ve been active throughout the years with various projects in Albania. All these projects have one scope, in general, it\u2019s supporting Albania\u2019s European path\u201d, said Steiner.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn all projects, for us, it is important that gender equality is something that has been praised. We\u2019re currently active in three main areas, vocational training, justice reform, environmental protection, and management of water resources\u201d.<\/p>\n

In regards to the project conducted in cooperation with UNFPA Albania, the Austrian diplomat said the empowerment of women and families remains a challenge not only in Albania but also in Austria and the EU.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe main idea of this project implemented by the Austrian Development Agency and UNFPA Albania is to encourage private companies in setting up friendly working spaces for workers and families\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cSix companies are ready to participate in the programme. According to the study, 88% of Albanian families met hardships to raise a child while working\u201d, emphasized Steiner.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the analyst of the programme on population and gender at UNFPA, Elsona Agolli, said the project aimed to bring to the spotlight friendly policies for families in the private sector.<\/p>\n

According to the study, the private sector fosters a friendlier environment compared to the public sector.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople who work in the public sector are more well-informed when it comes to friendly policies, or with legislation in general, whereas employees in the private sector are less informed\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn regards to friendly environments, the analysis revealed that the private sector has a friendlier environment for its employees\u201d, concluded Agolli.<\/p>\n
