{"id":39092,"date":"2022-06-28T16:42:36","date_gmt":"2022-06-28T14:42:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/euronews.al\/en\/?p=39092"},"modified":"2022-06-28T16:42:36","modified_gmt":"2022-06-28T14:42:36","slug":"7-banks-at-a-high-risk-for-money-laundering","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/euronews.al\/en\/7-banks-at-a-high-risk-for-money-laundering\/","title":{"rendered":"7 banks at a high risk for money laundering"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>None of the banks operating in Albania is classified as \u2018low-risk\u2019 when it comes to money laundering.<\/p>\n<p>According to an assessment of Albania\u2019s 12 banks, seven of them were categorized as \u2018high risk\u2019 and 5 as \u2018moderate\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>The report showed signs of regression compared to last year when 7 banks were classified as \u2018moderate risk\u2019 and 5 as \u2018high risk\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>The Bank of Albania audited 2 banks together with the Directorate for the Prevention of Money Laundering.<\/p>\n<p>According to data secured from Euronews Albania, there was one case where the Directorate made a warning for lack of vigilance of transfers with people that are politically exposed and lack of documentation on the sources of income.<\/p>\n<p>Exchange offices were also categorized as high risk when it comes to money laundering. 119 out of 556 were classified as high-level risk.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, the Bank of Albania revoked 12 licenses and fined another 26.<\/p>\n<p>Albania is in the grey list of Moneyval on the risks of money laundering since 2018.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>None of the banks operating in Albania is classified as \u2018low-risk\u2019 when it comes to money laundering.
