{"id":39777,"date":"2022-07-17T17:14:49","date_gmt":"2022-07-17T15:14:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/euronews.al\/en\/?p=39777"},"modified":"2022-07-17T17:16:26","modified_gmt":"2022-07-17T15:16:26","slug":"euro-decline-brings-down-albanians-wealth-in-banks-by-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/euronews.al\/en\/euro-decline-brings-down-albanians-wealth-in-banks-by-3\/","title":{"rendered":"Euro decline brings down Albanians\u2019 wealth by 3%"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The recent drop in the euro has brought down the wealth of Albanian citizens by 3%.<\/p>\n<p>More than half of deposits in the Albanian banking sector are in euros.<\/p>\n<p>If at the beginning of the year, the savings deposits in euros were worth 68 billion ALL, today they are worth 2 billion ALL less.<\/p>\n<p>According to economy expert Eduart Gjokutaj, changes to the exchange rate will have a worse impact on Albanians whose monthly income or bank accounts are registered in euros.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBank deposits will be the most affected category by the depreciation of the euro. This is also a result of the specifics in the Albanian economy, where deposits in euros are a dominant factor. What we would suggest, is to keep bank accounts in LEK if income and spending is done in the same currency,\u201d \u2013 he said.<\/p>\n<p>Only a small group will be benefiting from the decline in the euro, and that will be the tourists coming in to spend their money in countries where the euro is used.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The recent drop in the euro has brought down the wealth of Albanian citizens by 3%.
