The Secretary-General of NATO, Jens Stoltenberg, had a telephone conversation this Wednesday with the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic.<\/p>\n
The news was made known by Stoltenberg himself through a post on social media, where he emphasized that he had told Vucic that KFOR, as part of the NATO mission, would intervene if stability in Kosovo was threatened.<\/p>\n
Both sides should be constructively involved in the dialogue with the EU mediator and overcome the differences diplomatically. NATO-KFOR is ready to intervene if stability is endangered, he said.<\/p>\n
Stoltenberg had a phone call with the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, as well, during which he called on all parties to maintain calm and avoid unilateral actions.<\/p>\n
Northern Kosovo was gripped by tensions after local Serbs set up barricades at checkpoints in Jarinje and Bernjak on July 31, expressing opposition to reciprocity for license plates and documents, which was scheduled to come into force on August 1.<\/p>\n
