Prime Minister Edi Rama has reacted to the government\u2019s decision to close down the Turkish college in Tirana.<\/p>\n

Through a post on social media, Rama stated that after the decision to close down the college, there was no other purpose other than the equal application of the law in the case of the removal of a school license on grounds of discrepancies, like many others have before.<\/p>\n

“After every decision, a goal other than the truth is sought and the public is bombarded with fake news and conspiracy theories! There is nothing like that here and there is no other purpose other than the equal application of the law in the case of removing a school license like many others have been before,” wrote Rama on Twitter.<\/p>\n

According to Rama, the school in question was found to be in violation of the law during 2 verifications, violations for which the law provides for the revocation of the license.<\/p>\n

“Selling the building where you have a school permit and opening it somewhere else, without obtaining the permit according to the law, without meeting the criteria and not meeting the legally required standards, is a direct violation for which the law requires an immediate revocation of the school\u2019s license. Using children to then hide from the law, and using parents and students themselves, to play the role of the victim who is being attacked by the government, when in fact you have been verified not once but twice in violation, shows low integrity as opposed to the high mission that should resonate from an education hub”, writes Rama.<\/p>\n

The government decided a day ago to close down the Turkish college in Tirana known as “Mehmet Akif Ersoy”. This institution has been operating in Albania since 1996 and is among the first private secondary schools opened in the country after the 90s.<\/p>\n

The government’s decision makes the college directly accountable for covering all costs related to carrying out procedures for the transfer of students. Also, the government order states that the college will be asked to return all payments made by parents for the unfinished portion of their children\u2019s education.<\/p>\n
