It is reported that in the meeting it was emphasized that the malicious attacks, sponsored by the government of Iran, should bring together all the institutional, political and social actors to analyze the situation of electronic systems.<\/p>\n

“Cyber-attacks of the last few months, the level of infringement of state electronic systems and the measures that have been taken and are being taken by the responsible structures were the subject of detailed discussions at the meeting of the National Security Council.<\/p>\n

During the discussions, it was emphasized that the malicious attacks, sponsored by the government of Iran, should bring together all the institutional, political and social actors to analyze the situation of electronic systems and treat the cyber security of all the country’s critical infrastructure as an element essential of our national security”, announces the Presidency.<\/p>\n

In today’s meeting, ministers and senior representatives of responsible institutions reported on the analysis of the situation so far, the plans and measures that are being taken to address the deficiencies observed in infrastructure and capacities.<\/p>\n

“In particular, the support provided by the United States of America and various American agencies, which have worked and are working with our agencies, has been appreciated as it has been essential for the identification of the typology of cyber aggression and our response. The National Security Council confirmed that the close international cooperation with all partner countries, NATO, and the EU should continue, with the aim of increasing the defensive, counter-active and preventive capacities and not repeating such attacks in the future”, stated the president\u2019s briefing.<\/p>\n

The head of the government, Edi Rama, was also present at today’s meeting.<\/p>\n

The Security Council consists of 14 members and is chaired by the President of the Republic. Its other members are the speaker of Parliament, the prime minister, 7 ministers\u2014Defence, Justice, Internal Affairs, Finance, Transport, Foreign Affairs, and Energy, the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security, the Director of the State Information Service and the General Director of the Police.<\/p>\n

The law gives the President the right to “invite other participants” to the meetings of the Council, who do not enjoy the rights of other members.<\/p>\n

For the last time, the National Security Council was convened by former president Ilir Meta on February 14, 2022, due to Russia-Ukraine tensions.<\/p>\n
