Prime Minister Edi Rama stated that there will be no pacts with the university lecturers that have been protesting for the past few days.<\/p>\n

In his speech, Rama said that there will be no agreement with them, adding that the latter have the opportunity to work in private universities as well.<\/p>\n

Further, the head of the government emphasized that there will be vetting for lecturers who work in private universities and do not declare their salary.<\/p>\n

“You cannot go out and protest and not teach, at a time when your salary has already increased. Lectures have second chances by working in private universities. Some of the lecturers are not declared by private universities, we will do vetting on this issue. They are protesting to bring water to the soup of rubles, to “non grata-s\u2019 and spies. Who is blackmailing them? There will be no pact with them, our job is not to make pacts behind your back,” said Rama, while adding that lecturers have many options and that they\u2019re not on the same boat as retirees or firefighters and police officers.<\/p>\n

For several days, university lecturers have been protesting, where, among other things, they are demanding an increase in their salaries by 50% in the next 2 years.<\/p>\n

In his speech to the rectors of private and public universities in the country, Rama said that the time when the government raises salaries uniformly because the unions demand it, is over.<\/p>\n
