{"id":42767,"date":"2022-10-20T16:11:35","date_gmt":"2022-10-20T14:11:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/euronews.al\/en\/?p=42767"},"modified":"2022-10-20T16:11:35","modified_gmt":"2022-10-20T14:11:35","slug":"sports-bets-make-a-comeback-government-expected-to-collect-2-billion-all-in-taxes-per-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/euronews.al\/en\/sports-bets-make-a-comeback-government-expected-to-collect-2-billion-all-in-taxes-per-year\/","title":{"rendered":"Sports bets make a comeback, government expected to collect 2 billion ALL in taxes per year"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>From January 1, 2023, online sports betting will reopen.<\/p>\n<p>This was announced in the draft budget of 2023, which foresees the reintroduction of online sports betting into the legislation.<\/p>\n<p>From the approval in the gambling law of &#8220;sports betting&#8221;, with effect from January 1, 2023, it is estimated that 2 billion ALL will be collected in the state budget in taxes per year.<\/p>\n<p>December 31, 2018 was the last day that betting was allowed in Albania.<\/p>\n<p>After this drastic decision of the government, the phenomenon of sports betting did not disappear.<\/p>\n<p>Even though the state criminalizes this activity, many businesses disguised as bars continue to offer this service underground.<\/p>\n<p>In 2018, the income from this category was 38.4 million euros, and in 2017 44.5 million euros, where only bets had poured 15 million euros.<\/p>\n<p>The contribution to the gambling budget fell by 6 million euros in 2020 when only one national casino was allowed and 12.8 million at the end of last year with the licensing of 3 more casinos.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From January 1, 2023, online sports betting will reopen.
