{"id":43960,"date":"2022-11-16T18:43:22","date_gmt":"2022-11-16T17:43:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/euronews.al\/en\/?p=43960"},"modified":"2022-11-16T18:43:22","modified_gmt":"2022-11-16T17:43:22","slug":"czech-proposal-for-the-liberalization-of-visas-for-kosovo-has-stalled","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/euronews.al\/en\/czech-proposal-for-the-liberalization-of-visas-for-kosovo-has-stalled\/","title":{"rendered":"Czech proposal for the liberalization of visas for Kosovo has stalled"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"tw-data-text tw-text-large tw-ta\" dir=\"ltr\" data-placeholder=\"Translation\"><span class=\"Y2IQFc\" lang=\"en\">On the afternoon of November 16, the deadline for the EU countries to present their comments on the Czech proposal for the liberalization of visas for Kosovo, using the so-called silent procedure, expired. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"tw-data-text tw-text-large tw-ta\" dir=\"ltr\" data-placeholder=\"Translation\"><span class=\"Y2IQFc\" lang=\"en\">Diplomatic sources in Brussels have said that &#8220;at least two countries&#8221; interrupted this procedure and prevented the proposal from getting the green light, reports REL.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"tw-data-text tw-text-large tw-ta\" dir=\"ltr\" data-placeholder=\"Translation\"><span class=\"Y2IQFc\" lang=\"en\">According to sources, Spain was the one that submitted the objection, while several other countries asked for more clarification. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"tw-data-text tw-text-large tw-ta\" dir=\"ltr\" data-placeholder=\"Translation\"><span class=\"Y2IQFc\" lang=\"en\">The proposal of the Czech Republic, the country that currently leads the EU Presidency, was that the entry into force of visa liberalization for Kosovo should be linked to the operationalization of the ETIAS travel system, as requested by France, but at the same time the date of the decision&#8217;s enforcement should also be set: &#8220;not later than December 1, 2023&#8221;. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"tw-data-text tw-text-large tw-ta\" dir=\"ltr\" data-placeholder=\"Translation\"><span class=\"Y2IQFc\" lang=\"en\">Diplomatic sources, however, say that these results don&#8217;t mean that the Czech proposal will not pass in the future.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On the afternoon of November 16, the deadline for the EU countries to present their comments on the Czech proposal for the liberalization of visas for Kosovo, using the so-called silent procedure, expired.
