Albanians love sleep so much that they rank first in the world in terms of their nighttime sleep duration, according to a new study<\/a> <\/strong>published by the renowned magazine “Nature”. <\/span><\/p>\n

Of the 63 nationalities researched by experts in the study, data showed that Albanians slept the most, for an average of 7 hours and 32 minutes per night. We’re followed by Slovaks, Romanians, Czechs, and Ukrainians.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sociologist Edmond Dragoti said in an interview for Euronews Albania that sleep is very present in the lives of Albanians despite being far from the equator. <\/span><\/p>\n

“The fact that we stand out is a surprise, in the sense that if the Spaniards, Italians or Greeks stand out for their afternoon naps, as they close up their shops, go to sleep and come back to work, we keep our shops open, but we sleep in them,” Dragoti said in a joking manner.<\/span><\/p>\n

The sociologist also added that those who are closer to the equator have a tendency to wake up earlier and go to bed earlier, thus they sleep less. This is true in terms of geography, while in terms of culture, he said that the Albanians are known for being a bit lazy.<\/span><\/p>\n
