Albania and Kosovo will come under joint basketball league which will be called \u201cThe Unique League\u201d.<\/p>\n
The story was confirmed by the respective federates who told the media that on September 10 they will sign an agreement which will mark its establishment.<\/p>\n
The agreement will be signed by the presidents of the two federates, Avni Ponari and Arben Fetahu, while Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama will also be attending.<\/p>\n
Prime Minister Rama, a former professional basketball player, is expected to introduce the official emblem of the league.<\/p>\n
The establishment of this league comes after long held discussions and attempts from both sides, who have finally found the support of International Basketball Federation (FIBA).<\/p>\n
The Unique League will comprise eight teams, four from Albania and four from Kosovo. Meanwhile, two representatives from each country will be at the board of executives.<\/p>\n
Playing under a joint league is a major step forward for Albanian sports as it will potentially boost competiveness and bring closer Albanians from the two sides of the border.<\/p>\n
It is worth mentioning that there is a similar wish for football as well but the respective federates have yet to receive UEFA\u2019s support<\/p>\n
