Will there be “non grata” declarations from the EU for Albanian politicians? Ambassador explains the rules <\/span><\/p>\n

The ambassador of the European Union to Albania Christine Hohmann was asked by the journalist Erla Mehilli if there will be any drastic decisions from Brussels for the Albanian officials accused of corruption.<\/span><\/p>\n

In her first interview for “Now” in Euronews Albania, she said that there is currently no such initiative from the EU. <\/span><\/p>\n

Erla M\u00ebhilli: Madam Ambassador, in terms of corrupt officials and not only, the United States of America, but also Great Britain seem to be in unison for sanctions against officials or former officials for corruption and not only. Will there be sanctions from the European Union on the officials and former officials, so follow the same line that the USA and Britain are following? <\/span><\/p>\n

Ambassador: I have not seen any such initiative in the European Union, it is a decision made by the 27 member countries, but I have not seen it until today.<\/span><\/p>\n

Erla Mehilli: So, the approval of 27 member countries would be needed to do something like this? <\/span><\/p>\n

Ambassador: Yes, it should be.<\/span><\/p>\n

Erla Mehilli: And would it be difficult to find a consensus among the 27 states? <\/span><\/p>\n
